Long term West Ham target Giles Barnes could be set for a move to Gareth Southgate's Middlesbrough at the end of the season. The Derby County midfielder is keen to remain in the Premiership rather than stay with the Rams.

Derby will be keen to let Barnes go as they require the cash for their rebuilding process for the Championship season ahead.



Paul Jewell is an admirer of Barnes, and is believed to be reluctant to let a player of his calibre leave. But the offer of £2 million may prove too much to resist.



Barnes is currently recovering from knee surgery.
