WBA return to Premiership

WBA return to Premiership

28 April 2008 - 21:31

West Brom secured an emotional return to the Premiership on Monday night with a hard fought 1-1 draw over Southampton at the Hawthorns on Monday night.

  • Chelsea ready to pay €75m for Eduardo Camavinga
  • Chelsea planning move for Strasbourg striker Joaquin Panichelli

  • England youth international Adam Lallana had given Southampton a shock lead early on and West Brom looked concerned that they may never return to the top flight.

An equaliser from Baggies sub Chris Brunt ensured that West Brom will be in the Premiership next year, though.

The goal that secured promotion came when sub Roman Bednar collected the ball on the left of the visitors’ area and fired it across. There was more than one set of Saints defenders’ legs flying about as they tried to clear, but the ball fell to Brunt, whose powerful left-foot effort rifled home.
