Manchester United are still pushing to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, Spanish publication Sport claims.
The Red Devils are keen on landing a holding midfielder this summer, and De Jong has emerged as a top transfer target.
However, a deal appears far from straightforward. United will need to pay at least €70 million to convince Barcelona.
The other stumbling block could be De Jong himself. The 25-year-old is not so keen on leaving the Catalan giants.
If he were to leave the club, the midfielder may have the preference of joining another Champions League outfit.
Hence, the Red Devils face a tough job of signing him and have apparently handed an ultimatum to the Dutchman.
De Jong previously worked under manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax, and the duo continue to have a strong relationship.
The midfielder would welcome a reunion, and United have now asked him to make a final decision over his future.
Barcelona need to make a big sale before June 30. De Jong still appears the likely marquee player to leave the club.
