Middlesbrough defender Djed Spence is on his way to White Hart Lane, after Spurs agreed a transfer fee for the right-back. The 21-year-old, who caught the eye with an impressive Championship campaign last season, is due to arrive in North London for contract discussions on Friday and will put pen to paper on a six year deal.
Antonio Conte has made no secret of his admiration for the youngster, and with the club looking to offload Matt Doherty this transfer window, it is understood Spurs would prefer to sign a young alternative in Djed Spence.
Djed Spence had an excellent campaign at Nottingham Forest last season, helping the club return to the Premier League for the first time in two decades. The defender scored two goals during that successful campaign.
No other interest came in for Spence though, and thus Spurs had a clear pathway to sign the youngster.
Spence, who has 3 caps for England's under-21 side, is delighted that this opportunity has presented itself at this early stage of his career and the former Fulham youth starlet will link up with his new teammates next week.
