Megson praises Sunderland

Megson praises Sunderland

01 May 2008 - 23:01

Bolton boss Gary Megson has praised Sunderland and their coach Roy Keane for the impact he has had in his first season at the club. The praise comes ahead of their crucial Premiership battle at the weekend.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • "I think it's a work in progress at Sunderland," Megson said in praise of Keane's men.

"Roy's taken them up from the Championship, they've established themselves in their first season and now he'll want to kick on.

"They've done well. They've changed the team, brought in a lot of players and finished the season well with very strong home form.

"Roy's done well in his first 18 months as manager; Niall Quinn has done well in his two years as chairman; the new people who have come on board from Ireland and pumped their money in, have done well, but most of all the players have done well and that's what it always comes down to. It's the players, although Roy has brought those players in."
