Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of joining Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan deal.
The Blues graduate has been a squad player over the past year under manager Thomas Tuchel amid injuries and competition for places.
He faces a similar situation this campaign, and hence the Blues have made the decision to loan him out to secure valuable first-team experience.
Leverkusen were initially eyeing a buy option as part of the temporary move, but Chelsea had no plans of accepting such an agreement.
The 21-year-old was once regarded as the one of the best academy graduates. Bayern Munich were heavily interested in him in 2019.
He has failed to make sufficient progress in the past three years, and will be aiming to redeem himself with the loan switch to Leverkusen.
Chelsea still believe Hudson-Odoi has a big future at the club, and it remains to be seen whether he can impress in the Bundesliga this term.
