With just one year remaining on his contract at Chelsea, Paris St Germain are set to make a move for N'Golo Kante on transfer deadline day. The French international has suffered with injury problems over the last two seasons, and manager Thomas Tuchel admits that the time may be right to find a long-term successor to Kante.
PSG had tried to sign Kante in 2018, but instead the player decided to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge. As the midfielder heads into the last 12 months of his deal, it is understood Tuchel has been assessing his options across Europe. The German coach is reportedly close to signing a big name replacement for Kante.
‘You cannot [disregard Kanté’s injury record],’ Tuchel said.‘You have to consider everything that is on the table, and on the table is his potential, on the table is his influence, and his quality.
‘But on the table of course is his age, his salary and his injury rate, of course. Of course. From there you build a whole picture and try to find a solution.’
PSG will attempt to sign the midfielder tomorrow, and a transfer package of around 15 million euros has been suggested.
