Everton have entered contract talks with reported Chelsea target Anthony Gordon, manager Frank Lampard has confirmed.
The attacking midfielder was a top target for the Blues during the final weeks of the summer transfer window, but the Toffees refused to sell.
The Blues were prepared to pay as much as £60 million, but the Merseyside outfit were adamant that the youngster was going nowhere.
The 21-year-old still has three years left on his contract, but Lampard has confirmed that talks are underway over a possible renewal.
He told in a press conference: "The club are speaking with Anthony and Anthony’s people to see if we can get the right solution."
Gordon is currently one of the lowest earners at £10,000-a-week, and he would receive a significant hike if he decides to extend his stay.
Whether that happens remains to be seen. Chelsea are expected to make a fresh approach to sign him when the transfer window reopens.
