Chelsea defender Reece James has not given up on making the England squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
The Blues graduate sustained a knee injury against AC Milan earlier this month. It was initially predicted that he could be out for eight weeks.
However, speaking to The Sun, James has said that he is working hard on his recovery and does not rule himself out of the World Cup finals.
He said: "I need to keep working hard over the next few weeks and see where I am on call-up day. I will try and not rule myself out."
"It is still slow and in the early stages. I have been in rehab for two weeks, so I am still taking it day-by-day."
Gareth Southgate is expected to select his 26-man World Cup squad on November 10 and James is most likely to miss the cut.
Barring a miraculous return to full training, Southgate is unlikely to pick James. The right-back looks set to face disappointment.
