Man Utd prepared to swoop for Portuguese goalkeeper

12 November 2022 - 20:32

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa ahead of a possible approach at the end of the season.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Red Devils have been monitoring the 23-year-old over the past few months and their stance has not changed despite his renewal.

Costa recently signed a new long-term deal at Porto with a release clause worth €75m, but this has not deterred the Red Devils' pursuit.

According to AS, the club will continue to track his progress over the rest of the season before considering a possible transfer bid for him.

United currently have David de Gea as the number one choice in goal, but there are questions over his future ahead of next season.

His current £375,000-a-week deal expires in June 2023. United don't want to trigger the 12-month extension clause due to his wages.

A renewal with a massive pay-cut could be on the cards, but the final decision will rest on the shoulders of manager Erik ten Hag.
