Manchester United have identified Benfica defender Antonio Silva as a potential replacement for Harry Maguire next summer.
The Red Devils brought in Lisandro Martinez from Ajax this summer and he is considered as an undisputed starter in central defence.
However, the club have failed to find a consistent partner for him. Raphael Varane has tended to get injured after a few run of games.
Meanwhile, Victor Lindelof and Maguire have been inconsistent. The latter has been touted to leave the club at the end of the season.
It is now reported by The Mirror that the club are showing interest in Silva, who is also being monitored by Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The 19-year-old only made his debut in August this season, but his performances have caught the eye of several scouts in Europe.
He has been touted to become a world-class star in future. United could attempt to trigger his £57 million release clause next summer.
