Manchester United have been handed a blow in signing Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos after his stellar performance against Switzerland.
The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best young strikers in European football and he was exceptional for Portugal on Tuesday night.
The youngster was picked ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo to lead the line and showed his class with a tremendous hat-trick in the 6-1 win.
United were hoping to sign him for around £35m in January, but reports now claim that Benfica have no plans of listening to offers for Ramos.
In fact, they are now looking to commit him to a new long-term deal and prefer to keep him until his £103m release clause is triggered.
Ramos has been Benfica's first-choice striker this term after Darwin Nunez's exit. He has a stunning 20 goal contributions in 21 matches.
His reputation has gone to the next level after his tremendous World Cup display last night. He will be hoping to go all the way in Qatar.
