Lyon on course for double

Lyon on course for double

07 May 2008 - 21:21

Lyon are on course for a domestic double as Juninho Pernambucano scored a late free kick to see off the brave threat of Ligue 2 minnows Sedan to see themselves through into the French Cup final.

  • Dutch star has travelled to London for Chelsea medical
  • Chelsea to focus on signing Dutch attacker after Hato

  • Lyon were struggling throughout the game, but battled away and eventually got their reward at the end when the Brazilian scored a scorcher on 88 minutes.

Lyon are on course for an admirable double as they are two points clear of Bordeaux in Ligue 1 with two matches left, and the French giants could win their first ever double should they defeat PSG in the final.

Kader Keita and Fabio Grosso both came close in the first half and perhaps should've put Lyon in front.

However, Sedan did have an effort of note as Alexis Allart fired at Coupet in the Lyon goal.

Allart ruined a wonderful opportunity in the second half as he aimed for glory instead of passing to Marcus Mokaké, who would've easily sent the ball home.

Juninho came on as a 70th minute substitute to wrap up the result, as he fired in one of his usual free-kick specials.
