Manchester United are prepared to part ways with goalkeeper David de Gea when his contract expires next summer.
The Spaniard has been with the Red Devils since the summer of 2011 but his association with the club could end soon.
De Gea has been impressive in goal this season with several stunning saves, but manager Erik ten Hag expects much more.
The Dutch manager prefers a modern goalkeeper with strong distribution and this could pave the way for De Gea's exit.
According to Sky Germany, United have the option of keeping De Gea for next season but are unlikely to trigger the clause.
Ten Hag has reportedly instructed the club to pursue a replacement. Yann Sommer is one of the top names on his wishlist.
The Swiss is better with his passing attributes compared to De Gea and has also averaged more saves per game this season.
He will be available on a free transfer with his Borussia Monchengladbach contract due to expire at the end of the campaign.
