Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer dreams of joining Manchester United in either January or next summer.
The Swiss has been one of the best shot-stoppers in German top-flight football but he is now eyeing a fresh challenge elsewhere.
His current deal with Gladbach expires in June next year and Bild claim that the 34-year-old has no plans of penning a renewal.
Sommer wants to realise his England dream with United but it is unclear whether they will attempt to land him in January.
The Red Devils want a strong competitor to De Gea and Sommer would be a perfect fit with his better distribution and mobility.
He would also command lesser wages compared to a young signing, but it remains to be seen whether they land him this winter.
United will have to pay around €5m to pursue him in January while he could be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.
A decision may depend on the manager's demands. Sommer could be signed in January if Martin Dubravka's loan deal is terminated.
