Coppell tight-lipped on future

Coppell tight-lipped on future

10 May 2008 - 00:23

Reading boss Steve Coppell is remaining tight lipped over his future at the club. Apparently, Coppell has an outstanding relationship with chairman John Madejski, but relegation to the Championship will surely test his patience.

  • Gary Neville breaks silence on Ruben Amorim
  • Confirmed Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Brentford, Estevao absent

  • Reading currently sit firmly in the relegation zone with one game left, knowing that their future may still be decided by Fulham, who are level on points with the Royals.

Coppell quipped: “I can't say that. Let's get Sunday out of the way and we'll go from there. That's not leaving myself an 'out'. My whole concentration is on Sunday. It's got nothing to do with me or my personal situation. It's about Reading winning a football match. Nothing else.

“The manager is always accountable and I've never hidden from that. At this club, I've made a great issue of the fact that the chairman leaves me alone, that there is no interference. He leaves me to look after the football and if the football is not working, that is my responsibility 100 per cent.”
