Gerrard desperate for success

Gerrard desperate for success

10 May 2008 - 09:45

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard is absolutely desperate to leave his boyhood club to Premiership title success at one point of his career; and hinted that he would stay at the club for the rest of his career.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • This week Inter Milan were linked with a shock £25 million move for the midfielder, but Gerrard is keen to stay at the Reds.

Gerrard said of the rumours of his departure: "The idea is complete rubbish, fantasy, there has been no approach and no bid."

As Liverpool prepare for their final game of the season match against Tottenham; Gerrard remains optimistic about their chances of success for the future: "I cannot see myself ever leaving Liverpool now, and what I would dearly love is to lead this club to the next level that I believe we are capable of reaching.

"I have won trophies here but there is one I am missing and I want that before I finish playing.

"I do not want to look back and say I have never been in a title race. I can see that the team is getting stronger and stronger and I can see that we are going forward. I feel that we are getting closer and I really believe that."
