Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen on signing Arsenal midfield target Declan Rice this summer.
Rice has developed into one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and he is expected to pursue a bigger challenge.
Arsenal have been deemed favourites to sign him for a while but The Sun claim that United could compete with them.
Ten Hag has urged the hierarchy to make an approach for the 24-year-old, who could cost in upwards of £100 million.
Rice is unlikely to be denied an exit by the Hammers and he could give preference to staying in London this summer.
This could put Arsenal in the front seat but United could emerge as a strong option if they qualify for the Champions League.
Ten Hag already has Casemiro for the number six role but he is aiming to add more competition for places next season.
The Dutchman could also play Rice in the number eight position next season, considering his strong distribution skills.
