Sullivan blames Steve Bruce

Sullivan blames Steve Bruce

Birmingham joint owner David Sullivan has sensationally blamed some of Steve Bruce's signing for the Blues' exit from the Premiership. Alex McLeish was unable to save Birmingham and now prepare for a season in the Championship.

  • Sullivan was booed after Birmingham were relegated from the top flight, and now Sullivan has shouldered the blame elsewhere.

The club owner said that Franck Queuedrue and goalkeeper Richard Kingson were to blame for the club's demise.

"Where we went wrong is we brought in nine or eight players last summer and spread the limited resources we had when we'd probably have been better just signing three players and going for better-quality players," Sullivan told Sky Sports News.

"He (Bruce) thought he needed numbers - we went for numbers.

"So instead of going for quantity, we should have gone for quality some of those players have been incredibly disappointing.

"Franck Queudrue, I will name you one. We bought a third choice goalkeeper - a complete waste of space.

"I could go right down the list and nobody has really shone out.

"We spent £2.25million on Franck Queudrue and he has been a major disappointment to the club.

"Most of what we signed last summer has been a disappointment.

"The bottom line is we didn't improve the team last summer that is where it all started what we bought last summer."
