Manchester United have made an opening bid to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, according to Bild.
The Red Devils are currently on the cusp of selling Harry Maguire to West Ham United, and they want a replacement in the squad.
Erik ten Hag has urged the hierarchy to sign Pavard and Bild claim that an opening proposal has been made to the German champions.
The offer was immediately turned down by the Bundesliga side, but United remain optimistic of signing him in the coming days.
Pavard has entered the final year of his deal with the Bavarian outfit, and he has no plans of penning a new deal with the club.
Bayern are prepared to cash in on him for around €30m, but may have to lower their price to sell him before the deadline.
Apart from United, Liverpool are also interested in the former Stuttgart man, but they are yet to make a formal proposal.
The Reds could attempt to hijack the deal from United.
