Manchester United have suffered a big blow in the pursuit of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Red Devils made an approach to sign the 27-year-old on loan today, but their proposal was immediately rejected by the Serie A outfit.
According to The Athletic, La Viola are reluctant to lose Amrabat on the cheap and want at least €35m to sanction his permanent exit.
In case of a loan deal, they would require a mandatory buy clause at the end of the season. They won't accept an optional buy option in any case.
The news is a big blow for the Red Devils, considering they don't have the funds to afford the midfielder at the current point of the window.
With Financial Fair Play issues, United can only afford a loan deal, and they seem reluctant to include an obligation to buy next summer.
Aside from United, Atletico Madrid and Napoli are keeping tabs on him, and could make a late swoop for his services before the deadline.
