Manchester United have decided against parting ways with midfielder Scott McTominay before the transfer window closes.
The Scotland international has been a fringe player for the Red Devils this year, and there have been claims that he could leave the club.
However, the Red Devils have opted to keep him under the recommendation of manager Erik ten Hag, who wants more midfield depth.
McTominay is likely to face more competition with the arrival of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, but Ten Hag still wants him to stay.
The Dutchman is conscious of his midfield balance and sees the 26-year-old as a unique profile with his versatility and defensive qualities.
United's decision to keep McTominay has directly impacted the plans of Fulham, who were aiming to sign him as Joao Palhinha's replacement.
Palhinha underwent a medical and had his media duties with Bayern Munich, but Fulham have called him back after failing to land a successor.
Fulham return to Premier League action against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon. Palhinha could be back in their starting XI.
