Chelsea never made an approach to sign Lyon attacker Rayan Cherki during the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues were heavily linked with a move for the Frenchman this summer, but a deal did not materialise before the transfer deadline.
It is now revealed by Romano that Chelsea made contact with Les Gones over the player, but they were never interested in signing him.
They were keeping a check on his progress, but the main focus was on landing Cole Palmer before the transfer window closed.
Meanwhile, a couple of Premier League clubs were also keen on Cherki this summer, but Lyon made it clear that he was not for sale.
Cherki has had an impressive start to his career in Ligue 1, and he has caught the eye with his dribbling and pace in the final third.
However, he has been criticised for his attitude on the pitch. His limited mobility has been highlighted as one of his weaknesses.
