Chelsea are currently in pole position to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney during the January transfer window.
The Blues invested on Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku this summer to strengthen their centre-forward department.
However, they are still lagging behind. Jackson has failed to hit the ground running with just one goal in four games.
Meanwhile, Nkunku has yet to make an appearance for the club, having suffered a serious knee injury in pre-season.
It is now claimed that the Blues are lining up a January swoop for Toney, who is currently banned for betting breaches.
Toney will be allowed to train with his teammates this week, but he won't be able to play until the middle of January.
He has spoken about his ambition of playing for a bigger club and it seems Chelsea could end up as his next destination.
Talk are already underway between him and manager Mauricio Pochettino over a possible switch to Stamford Bridge.
