Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial won't be involved against Liverpool on Sunday.
Martial missed the recent Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich with an illness and he has not recovered in time for the North West derby.
Meanwhile, Maguire sustained a groin injury against the German champions and he is now expected to be sidelined for the next few games at least.
Speaking in his pre-match presser, Ten Hag confirmed bad news on the duo and added that Maguire's concern won't be a long-term one.
United are currently sixth and six points behind the top four. They face a realistic possibility of dropping nine points behind on Sunday.
The Red Devils have not beaten Liverpool at Anfield in the last eight games. They have scored just one game during this period.
Looking at such statistics, United face a huge job on their hands, particularly after their 7-0 rout at the stadium last season.
