Manchester United defender Alvaro Fernandez looks set to join Benfica during the ongoing transfer window.
The Spaniard has been on the radar of the Primeira Liga champions for a while and they have now opened talks with United.
Fernandez is currently on loan with Granada in La Liga, but United are set to activate a break clause following Benfica's proposal.
The club initially looked at a permanent deal, but they are now expected to land him on loan with an option to buy this summer.
The 20-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Portuguese giants and it is only a matter of time before the deal goes through.
The news has led to a mixed reaction among United fans with many believing that Fernandez has the potential to play for the club.
He is currently behind Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia in the pecking order and it is unsurprising that he wants to move on.
