Al-Ittihad striker Karim Benzema is likely to turn down advances from Arsenal and Chelsea to return to Ligue 1 this winter.
The Frenchman has netted 12 goals for the Saudi Pro League champions this term, but he is currently contemplating an early exit.
He only joined the Middle East club in the summer, but he is disillusioned with life and wants to return to European football.
The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid have been linked with him, but reports claim that he would prefer a return to Ligue 1.
His obvious destination would be his former club Lyon, who are currently struggling at the tailend of the French top-flight.
Les Gones have lacked the cutting edge in the final third of the pitch and could do with the services of Benzema at least on loan.
The news will come as a blow for Arsenal and Chelsea, who are desperate for a goalscoring star to ease their current striking woes.
