Man Utd & Chelsea eyeing deal for Ligue 1 striker

09 February 2024 - 20:48

Manchester United and Chelsea could go head-to-head to sign Lille striker Jonathan David at the end of the campaign.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The Canadian has been a mainstay in the Lille squad over the past few years, but he is expected to pursue a new challenge soon.

His current deal concludes in June of 2025 and Lille are more or less expected to sell him for the best price this summer.

Both United and Chelsea have thrown their name into the hat for his signature and a deal could be agreed for €50-60 million.

The Red Devils will be hoping to prise away the striker before the Blues by assuring him with European football next term.

At the moment, Chelsea are in a poor position in the league in 11th and they may not qualify for Europe through their division.

Winning the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup could be their only choices in order to play European football in the 2024/25 season.

United, on the other hand, are currently sixth in the table and are only eight points adrift of the top four at the present point.
