Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that he is really happy with midfielder Jorginho amid the uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.
The Italian recently delivered a man of the match performance against Liverpool in the Premier League. He was brilliant alongside Declan Rice in the centre of the park.
The 31-year-old will be eyeing a second straight start when the Gunners face the Hammers. Ahead of the game, Arteta has said that he is really happy with Jorginho.
When pressed on the contract situation, the Spanish tactician added that sporting director Edu and the board are responsible for the same.
He said: "I'm really happy with him, that's all I can say."
"When we imagined what he could bring to the team and how we could make us better, he's doing exactly that or even better.
"The contract situation is for Edu and the board to manage."
Jorginho's current contract with the Gunners expires in the summer, but the club have the option to prolong his stay for another 12 months.
Arteta is said to be eyeing a marquee defensive midfielder ahead of next season. This could see Jorginho leave the club on a free transfer.
