Manchester United and Arsenal have been handed a blow in the pursuit of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee this summer.
The Red Devils and Gunners are expected to sign a new striker in the next transfer window. Zirkzee is a top target for both.
The Dutchman has 17 goal contributions in the current campaign and it has been reported that he could pursue a bigger challenge.
The Premier League duo have made contact with his agents, but a deal appears unlikely on the cards, as per Gazzetta dello Sport.
Zirkzee has his sights on continuing in the Italian top-flight next season, and he would prefer a move to AC Milan instead.
Juventus are also in contention to land the former Bayern Munich man, but a deal could be dependent on Dusan Vlahovic's exit.
Bologna currently value their prized asset at €70m. Rasmus Hojlund's move to Manchester United is seen as a benchmark by them.
It is left to be seen whether the Italian duo can afford him amid their financial problems over the past couple of seasons.
