Arsenal have reportedly entered the race with Manchester United to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes this summer.
The 23-year-old has developed into a quality defensive midfielder for Wolves this season and he has caught the eye of several elite clubs.
The Gunners are one of his main admirers and O Dia claim that their interest is more serious than United heading into the next transfer window.
Despite this, Wolves are unlikely to let him go on the cheap and they could hold out for at least £40 million to sanction his departure.
Arsenal could see him as a replacement for Thomas Partey or Jorginho.
Jorginho's current deal expires at the end of June and as things stand, the club have not extended his contract. Talks are planned.
Partey's contract concludes in the summer of 2025. He is more likely to leave with the club concerned over his injury problems.
Gomes would be a fine addition to their ranks. He is a strong defensive midfielder who likes to engage in tackles and duels.
