Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim has clarified that he has not spoken with Liverpool over the head coach position.
The 39-year-old is one of the leading candidates to succeed Klopp, who has confirmed that he will be leaving during the summer.
A recent report from Sky Sports revealed that there is a verbal agreement in place and Amorim could be announced as the successor.
However, the Portuguese tactician has dismissed the speculation in an interview by saying: "I did not meet Liverpool for any interview and there’s no agreement, it’s not true."
"I’m Sporting manager, I want to win here and I didn’t meet any club. Nothing has been agreed. Stop with this story. This is the last time I speak about my future."
Amorim continues to remain the prime candidate for the job and we won't be surprised if an announcement is delayed until the summer.
Sporting are currently top of the Primeira Liga ahead of Benfica and Amorim probably wants to concentrate on his role without any distractions.
