Tottenham could make a surprise move for 25-year-old Chile international forward Ben Brereton Diaz once the transfer window reopens, after the player impressed during his loan stint at Sheffield United. Despite failing to keep Sheff Utd in the top flight, Brereton has been one of the club's best players since his arrival in January, scoring six goals in 12 league games.
Spurs are still looking to find a replacement for Harry Kane and have been linked with dozens of forwards in recent months, but it is Stoke-on-Trent born striker Brereton Diaz that appears top of the club's transfer wish list. After spells with Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers, a move to Villarreal beckoned. The Yellow Submarines currently hold the player's registration and are looking for a fee of around 18 million euros to let the striker leave. With 29 caps to his name, Brereton Diaz has been one of Chile's best players in recent times and is set to appear in the Copa America this summer.
Tottenham are likely to miss out on Champions League qualification and therefore are to begin a rebuilding campaign earlier than anticipated.
