Manchester United have made an opening bid worth £60 million to sign Benfica midfielder Joao Neves, according to Record.
The Red Devils are eager to land a new defensive midfielder this summer and Neves is one of the top names on their radar.
Record now report that United recently proposed to sign Neves for £51m, but the transfer offer was immediately rejected.
Benfica president Rui Costa is quite clear that Neves won't be sold for less than £85m in the upcoming transfer window.
United are not the only club interested in signing the wonderkid with Manchester City and Arsenal also keeping tabs.
Neves would be a fantastic replacement for Casemiro at United. The Brazilian has been past his prime in the last year.
Casemiro is attracting interest from the Saudi top-flight and United will be hoping to recoup a lucrative fee from his exit.
Aside from Neves, the Red Devils are also monitoring Everton midfielder Amadou Onana ahead of the transfer window.
