Manchester United could target a move for Lille striker Jonathan David if they are unable to sign Joshua Zirkzee.
The Red Devils are prepared to trigger the £34 million release clause in Zirkzee's contract and they have already informed Bologna.
The club have also reached an agreement over the commission with his agent, but Zirkzee has yet to make a final decision over his future.
Amidst this, United are keeping their options open and reports claim that the hierarchy are also looking into a deal for Lille's David.
David has been one of the most consistent strikers in Ligue 1. He netted 26 goals and provided nine assists for Lille last campaign.
With his contract expiring in June next year, Lille have already confirmed that they are ready to part ways for a reasonable price.
United could contemplate an approach for his services in the near future if Zirkzee has plans of joining another club over them this summer.
