Manchester United are eyeing a surprise move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte who turned down Chelsea last summer.
The Red Devils are aiming to sign a new central midfielder in the current transfer window and Ugarte has emerged as a potential target.
Ugarte was on the radar of Chelsea last year. They were in pole position to sign him, but PSG beat them with a better financial package.
Things have not gone as planned for Ugarte since the move and he could be considering a fresh challenge after just one season in Paris.
Sky Sports claim that United are considering an approach, but he is unlikely to come on the cheap. He could cost around €60 million.
Les Parisiens want to recoup the fee paid to Sporting and they have no desire to cut their losses on the highly-rated midfielder.
The arrival of Ugarte to Old Trafford could pave the way for the departure of Casemiro, who has been linked with Saudi clubs.
