Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte is edging closer to joining Manchester United this summer, according to Foot Mercato.
The Red Devils have identified the Uruguayan as their number one target to bolster their midfield. They have already agreed personal terms with him.
Talks are now underway with the French champions. PSG want £59m for a permanent deal, but United are hoping to sign him on an initial loan deal.
Luis Enrique's side are currently in advanced talks with Benfica to sign Joao Neves, who has been identified as a replacement for Ugarte this summer.
United will be hoping to secure a deal for Ugarte in the near future.
The Red Devils are scheduled to play three pre-season games in the United States. They are set to face Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool.
If United were to land Ugarte, he could link up with them on their return. He is currently on vacation following his Copa America exploits.
