Real Madrid are preparing a surprise move to sign Matthijs de Ligt amid interest from Manchester United, according to Teamtalk.
The Bayern Munich defender has already agreed terms with the Red Devils and he is currently waiting for them to negotiate a transfer fee.
United are willing to pay around €35m for the Ajax graduate, but Bayern are adamant that they don't want to sell him for anything less than €50m.
Amidst this, Los Blancos are considering an approach for the Netherlands ace. They could seek revenge after missing out on Leny Yoro to United.
Yoro was widely fancied to join the European champions, but United managed to persuade him with a highly lucrative salary package.
Los Blancos could get one over United by hijacking their pursuit of De Ligt. The La Liga giants could easily meet Bayern's asking price.
The final decision would obviously depend on the player. De Ligt is currently focused on reuniting with manager Erik ten Tag at Old Trafford.
