Manchester United have decided against landing the signature of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer.
The Red Devils are keen on signing a defensive midfielder in the current transfer window and they recently agreed terms with Ugarte.
However, they have decided against proceeding with a formal move after learning of the demands of the French champions.
PSG recently signed Joao Neves from Benfica for €60m up front and they want a similar fee to part ways with Ugarte too.
United have no desire of meeting the price. They have decided to move on to alternative targets due to Les Parisiens' stance.
The club are also interested in Adrien Rabiot and Sofyan Amrabat and one of them could join after the setback on Ugarte.
Amrabat had a decent loan stint with United in the recent campaign.
Meanwhile, Rabiot has been linked for years and could finally make the switch to Old Trafford on a free transfer deal.
