Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has confirmed that he considered a potential move to Marseille during the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old has been with the Blues since the summer of 2022, but he has yet to make a significant contribution amid regular injuries.
Fofana is currently a regular starter in central defence alongside Levi Colwill, but he has admitted that a move to Marseille was on his mind.
He said: "I had a conversation [this summer] that really touched me. I would be lying if I said I didn't weigh it up. It was from [Mehdi] Benatia, Marseille's sporting director."
Fofana has been ever-present for the Blues in the Premier League under new manager Enzo Maresca, but he has yet to keep a clean sheet.
The Frenchman is feeling the pressure of the huge price tag and it remains to be seen whether he can prove his credentials this campaign.
Otherwise, the Blues could contemplate his exit next summer. The hierarchy are looking to sign another marquee centre-back in 2025.
