Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot is close to joining Marseille on a free transfer, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Frenchman has been a free-agent since his contract expired with Juventus on June 30. Manchester United have been linked with him on numerous occasions, but the club have not made any kind of approach.
Romano now reports that Marseille are in advanced discussions with the World Cup finalist and a contract could be formally agreed in the next 48 hours.
Rabiot has received lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League too, but he clearly has his sights on continuing in Europe and playing at the highest level.
Marseille are not playing European football, but they have invested big in the squad and look good value to finish in the Champions League places this term.
Rabiot would be a superb signing for the Ligue 1 giants, who have high aspirations under manager Roberto De Zerbi. They are currently second in Ligue 1.
