French midfielder Adrien Rabiot chose to join Marseille following snubs from Arsenal and Manchester United this summer.
The 29-year-old parted ways with Juventus after the expiry of his contract on June 30. He was fancied to move to the Premier League, but did not receive any lucrative contract offers in the end.
Rabiot was eyeing around £200,000 per week amid interest from the likes of Arsenal and United, but neither of those clubs made an approach to his representative, as per Romain Molina.
As a result, the Paris Saint-Germain graduate was forced to make financial sacrifices in order to return to competitive football with Marseille.
Juventus ruled out the prospect of re-signing him while Paris Saint-Germain were also not keen on a reunion with the 2022 World Cup finalist.
Marseille have made some shrewd signings since the summer and they are currently second in the table, a couple of points behind PSG.
They are scheduled to face Lyon on the road in their next league game.
