River Plate eyeing Aimar and Ayala

River Plate are reportedly on the verge of signing the Real Zaragoza duo Pablo Aimar and Roberto Fabian Ayala this summer.

  • Zaragoza got relegated to the Segunda Division in Spain and are set for a major clear our. Argentine pair Aimar and Ayala are the top two earners at La Romarede and it is almost guaranteed that the club shall have to sell them along with a few others to balance their books.



    River Plate president Jose Maria Aguilar has admitted that his club has been in talks with Zaragoza and that the duo could be transferred to El Monumental next month.



    He said:



    "I spoke with (agent Gustavo) Mascardi to ask about Roberto and Pablo who are two players we have always wanted to return.



    "Their contracts would be almost impossible for us. We know that Zaragoza are going through a very difficult time, but we would like to make a proposal to them for something similar to a loan agreement."



    Pablo Aimar and Roberto Ayala are former players for River Plate and are still very much loved by the River Plate supporters.
