Manchester United could appoint Thomas Tuchel as their new manager if Erik ten Hag is sacked during the international break.
Ten Hag is currently under immense pressure following the club's poor start to the Premier League campaign after six matches.
United are presently 14th in the table, six points behind the top four.
The Red Devils face Aston Villa on the road tomorrow and a negative result could increase the gap to the Champions League spots.
It is now reported that Ten Hag's future is hanging in the balance and a loss at Villa Park on Sunday could pave the way for his exit.
United's hierarchy have held an emergency meeting alongside the Glazers and a decision will be made after tomorrow's fixture.
Tuchel is the leading candidate to take over from the Dutchman.
The German was offered the position earlier in the summer, but he declined the job due to the lack of authority in deciding transfers.
Tuchel made a big name for himself during his time at Chelsea. He guided them to Champions League glory against the odds in 2021.
