Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is very close to signing an improved contract at the club, according to Manchester Evening News.
Mainoo made his breakthrough with the Red Devils in late 2023 and his salary was increased to £20,000 per week through a clause earlier this year.
The teenager has become a mainstay in the starting XI when fit and available and United are now prepared to reward him for his top-class performances.
Alejandro Garnacho is presently on a basic salary of around £50,000 per week and Mainoo could receive something similar with performance bonuses.
The midfielder recently withdrew from international duty with a minor knee concern, but he is expected to be fit for the restart against Brentford.
United have made a dismal start to the Premier League campaign and they have picked up only eight points from their opening seven games.
They will be aiming to turnaround their fortunes after the break. The club are scheduled to host Brentford at Old Trafford next weekend.
