Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Ethan Nwaneri following his impressive progress in the current campaign.
The youngster has yet to make his full Premier League debut, but he has impressed in the Carabao Cup with three goals thus far.
The 17-year-old scored a stunning curler from the edge of the box in midweek, and Arteta was full of praise for his potential.
Speaking ahead of the Magpies game, the Spaniard said: "I can talk about how good he is right now.
"At 17 years old, to be in a position like he is in at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, I think sums up really well the level that he has."
Arteta has resisted the temptation to start Nwaneri in the league games despite the absence of Martin Odegaard with an ankle issue.
Despite his top showing in midweek, Nwaneri may have to settle for another cameo off the bench in Saturday's early kick-off.
