Newcastle chairman Chris Mort is looking set to quit his job after only one year in charge at the Premiership side. Mort has been helpful in ensuring that Newcastle survived this season after a terrible start to the year.
He joined in July 2007 and alongside Mike Ashley was entirely responsible for bring Kevin Keegan back to his old club.
Keegan has since began a rebuilding process at the club, and Mort will be proud of his role he played in luring Keegan back to the Toon.
Mort or Newcastle have yet to confirm the reason why the sudden departure occurred.
