Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui ahead of a potential approach next year, according to Calciomercato.
The 25-year-old signed for the Bergamo giants from Genoa last summer and he has been exceptional for them with 14 goals and three assists so far.
He recently netted a brace in the 6-1 Champions League win over Young Boys. Arsenal were reportedly one of the clubs monitoring him.
Paris Saint-Germain were also keeping tabs on him. The duo could go head-to-head to land his signature in either January or in the summer.
Arsenal presently have Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as the main strikers, but the latter has been poor with no league goals in the current season.
He has been playing in his own shadow and the club need an upgrade on the Brazilian as soon as possible. Retegui would be a solid acquisition.
The Italian is not known for his ball distribution skills, but he has built his reputation with his finishing. He has converted 27 percent of his shots into goals this campaign.
