Chelsea and Manchester United are monitoring Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap ahead of a potential future approach.
The 21-year-old joined the Tractor Boys from City for £20 million last summer and he has been superb for them with six goals from 12 league games.
His progress has captured the eye of the Blues and the Cityzens and it is reported that the duo could consider making moves for the young marksman.
However, City have a clear advantage over their Premier League rivals. They have the option to buy him back for around £40m, should they wish to do so.
City made a huge blunder by selling Cole Palmer to Chelsea last year. The Englishman has developed into one of the best attackers in the division.
Pep Guardiola's side would not want to make the same mistake once more and they could exercise the option to re-sign Delap in the near future.
Delap will be in action against Nottingham Forest on the road this weekend.
