Real Madrid have made contact with Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot ahead of a potential approach next summer, according to Relevo.
The European champions have been reliant on Dani Carvajal at right-back over the years, but the Spaniard has become more and more injury prone.
The club want a replacement at the end of the campaign and reports have claimed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is the number one target for them.
However, Los Blancos have a contingency plan in place in case Alexander-Arnold goes on to commit his future to Liverpool with a new contract.
The club have already made contact with the agent of Dalot when manager Erik ten Hag was in charge and United have not ruled out his possible exit.
The Portuguese was signed for around £17 million from Porto and United are expected to demand at least £42 million to sanction his departure.
The club may also want to pursue a replacement first before selling him.
